Firstly, I would like to say thanks to anyone that helps =)

Secondly, lets not worry too much about price. I am on a fairly liberal budget here, but I'm not a millionaire either.

Thirdly, I want to know if it would be wise to build now or wait a little while for the PCI-Express cards to be implemented on a 939 Chipset. I was thinking of going Athlon FX 53 or 55. Wise? Unwise?

Any advice is appreciated.

Also, as far as harddrives go, 10k RPM SATA the way to go?

Cooling? Do I need to do anything extreme?

Disclaimer: I have never built my own machine. Any help is appreciated.

my advice to you is to read everything you possibly can between Anandtech and Tomshardware about building computers and reviews of EVERYTHING that you'd even consider putting in your box.

Antec, Cheiftec, LanLi or Coolermaster are all AWESOME cases...

I still owe a great debt to the person who told me to get a cheiftech for my first build... man I had no idea what I was doing but BOY was I glad I got that case as I started pushing the envolope...

Wait for nForce4.

The Top Line Boards will feater dual PCI-E grafix slots for nVidia SLI Cards (6800gt/ultra and 6600gt)

They will also be around $200 for the Top-o-The Line, and ~$60 for the budget NF4 boards.

So thats a bout it also dont get sume rediculosuly loud CPU Fan, you will hate your PC.

The articles I've read so far indicate that VIA's first offerings will (probably) be available to the public in the time frame from late October :D to Early November. nVidea's may be out as early as late November or probably closer to December. As for a specific date when they will be available to purchase, no one seems to know.

This page ^ ^ has several links to reviews on nVidea's nforce4 chipset.
