a server with high end graphics card? Or is it for a gaming server? meh. Either way, i would get 2 one gig modules rather than 4 fivetwelves if possible. Rest of choices seem sehr gut.

I think usually running 4 modules drops the speed down to 333mhz, and forces you to use 2T timing. Although i think with those modules you will have to use 2t anyway. Another (slightly obscure) advantage of 2 sticks, is that its half as likely to have a stick go bad =).

but if it is more than, say $40 cheaper for you to get 4x512, go for it i guess

1st , What is the server to be used for ???

You can probably get a cheaper build at newegg..

I just built a server w/ the following from newegg:

2 - 248's $478ea
Tyan K8W $426
4 - 1gig cosair reg ecc $139ea
CM Stacker $161
700 Zippy psu $310

Other items included a LSI 320-2x scsi raid controller w/ 8 - 15K Fuj Mau 36g hd's
in 2 - supermicro hotswap enclosures

You may want to consider some type of hotswap enclosure ..

BTW What are their hd's space requirements ???

Regards,
Jose

server used for files and voice recognition software. Mainly he is rich and wants a top end setup. I wont buy from newegg becuase they charge me sales tax in Tennessee. I thought of the cm stacker also. would it be better for his purposes. Drive space doesnt need to be huge. I though of putting the two 36 gb raptors in a raid 0 mand then using the 76 gb rapotr as a redundant backup.
