Help me build a new comp please

Hey guys, all of you helped me build the comp in the sig several years ago (when X2 processors just came out) and it has served me very well.

I think it's time to give this one to my parents and buy myself a new one. I haven't educated myself about any new hardware since I have bought this one so I am a total noob at this point :)

My budget is $2000 not including monitor,KB,Mouse

Tasks are pretty generic (Gaming, Browsing, Photoshop)

I am also willing to pay a premium for the computer to arrive assembled (I had enough fun putting this one together) so if anyone knows any sites that put everything together for you that would be helpful.

I am not afraid to overclock.

Looks like it, there's no way 1 (one) GTX 260 would cost that much. Also the HDD is too small in my opinion for the amount of money that is being sunked into this build. You might as well go to 1TB or even a 2TB hdd for that much money. Unless the OP is hardcore into photoshop I wouldn't recommend such an expensive monitor.

This Asus monitor is currently on sale for $180 with free shipping. On top of that skip out on the sound card. Judging from what the OP is going to do with this build, unless he is going to do some HD audio, a discrete sound card is not worth the extra $90. Everything else looks decent, although I don't have time before class to come up with a competing build.

Needless to say, the OP did state in his post that he doesn't need a keyboard, mouse, or monitor, however the monitor you recommend is good in my opinion as well seeing as I've loved mine since I got it (feels a bit more plastic-y than I'd like though).

You guys are always really helpful. I will research these parts and come up with a build and ask you guys what you think. Btw Scoop, the definition of a budget is "An itemized summary of estimated or intended expenditures for a given period along with proposals for financing them." It can be $100,000, I did not ask for a budget PC, I know it will be high end, I asked for a PC with a $2000 budget :)

Currently I use 2X 22 inch crap 1680 monitors by X2GEN, to be honest I have never experienced a good monitor so it is hard for me to justify buying anything else since these are serving me fine. A question for AznSensation - the OCZ SSD, isn't 30gb a bit too small for just bout anything? Would I only be putting OS on that?

My Vista64 install uses 20gb, that can be reduced by turning off restore and controling how windows sets up virtual memory, but yeah, you might get a few apps on the SSD besides the OS, but since his build comes in $350 under your stated budget you could upgrade to the 120gb for another $215 that would make the total build around $1860

I don't think I will be getting 2 cards, since one top of the line card has less issues and runs just about everything I will need to run... i am okay with not turning everything to max in games :)... Regarding the monitors: The worst thing about having these 2X22" monitors is that neither one is centered so gaming is a bit awkward (I have gotten a bit more used it it over the past 2 years) and I would imagine this would be even worse on a 30 inch. Having 1 monitor even if it is bigger may be too annoying at this point because I am so used to maximizing things on one screen and doing stuff on another.


Hmm...... or should I get 2 cards? lol

I don't know how these new cards deal w the latest games
