You're using registered RAM right with that Tyan Thunder right? What kind of power supply are you using? It sounds like it could be a bad mobo.

check for a jumper on the board to switc from single cpu to dual cpu AND make sure you set the correct multplier setting and front side bus.

Had a similar problem and then i set the multiplier to the right setting and it booted up. Also on your board, maybe there is some kind of jumper that sets it to 2 cpu mode or something.

Also try reseating the cards and ram. Even the cpu's. Sometimes if it isn't in right it won't post and no beeps.

If you have another board, test the CPUs and ram. If you have a defective part, you can use the process of elimination to pinpoint the source of the problem.

Take out all of your components except for the bare essentials and try booting the system.

about 15 minutes ago I just put my 1.4ghz athlon into my KT7A RAID board, and until I manually set the speed, it would boot up only every 4 times exactly, or when I'd clear the cmos... it's worth a shot

Ok sorry it took a while for me to reply, I havent had alot of acces to a computer. I tried the 1700s in my dads computer they worked fine, so there clear.

Then i tried the ram, yes it is regiested ddr ecc, no boot it did the same thing on his that mine did. Fans run no beeps, blank screen. So i figure it ahs to be the ram, hopfully its not the mb and the ram, ill have to wait till i get soem more ram to see if its the board

Thanks

Josh

Hi,
i looked at your system specs and if it's not a typo you're trying to run normal XP-CPUs on the dual-board instead of MP-CPUs ?
Could that be the reason?
