Help me achieve my New Years Resolution

Ok, so I am currently in my second term on my way towards earning my BS and I currently work for the school. I don't really like the work and I only make minimum wage, I would like to find a job in my career field of choice, I know some of you would suggest work study but there are no positions for that in my major. I don't have all that much on my resume, the job that I currently work at doing desk work and assisting students and various ranch work ( I grew up in a very small town..pop. 150) so my resume is not what you would call impressive.

So while looking through the phonebook the otherday I got an idea, seeing all the different psychologists in my area I thought that maybe I could just give them a call and see if there was any work, explaining my situation (not in as much detail as I did here) do you think this is a good idea, or do you think this represents anything like laziness, seems odd..etc.

Edit: Any idea on how I should approach it, should I just call and say that I am currently working towards my degree and looking for work in this field and tell them the situation?

the reason this will help me with me new years resolution is becuase I am hoping to find a good job, maybe not one that pays a whole lot more (though that would be nice) but one in the field that I am interested in, one that is more rewarding. So any suggestions on what I should do about this are greatly appreciated.

Cliffs:
Want to find a new job, part of new years resolution
thought about calling around and explaining
worried about resume
is this a good idea? any other ideas?

Sounds like a good idea, hey it's definitely not going to hurt and maybe one of the psychologists can get you the job hookup.....

I would definitely do that....

Nah the health and dental aren't very good and the whole running from the cops thing and balancing school would be a little hard. 😛

seriously though...any ideas? is this a good idea?

I wouldn't go into your situation, but call and see if any of them have an jobs, paid or not -- unless you need income.

Well I do need the income, but if it meant getting my foot in the door I could do without payment.
