Hello
I have a Compaq laptop on which i am trying to install linux. I currently have Windows XP on it and have partitioned the drive for linux.
now, when i put the mandrake CD in the laptop and boot, it goes through its normal routine, recognizes my Hard drive, but at Partition check, i get this note and it just hangs there:
Partition Check:
hda:spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7.
the computer just hangs there and nothing happens. I dont know what to do as i am a newbie for Linux. I was able to install Mandrake Linux on my desktop successfully and it works perfectly on it but it wont install on my laptop.
I tried installing Slackware Linux on my laptop and it would install properly but it wont recognize my integrated Realtek NIC on my laptop to access internet.
any help would be nice here, either help me to install Mandrake or tell me how to install NIC drivers for Slackware....
thanks
