I am on a COllege network... the thing that perplexes is loosing my network out of no reason.... this has happened like a couple of times in the last day or two.... it is like i just canno do anything after i leave my PC for some time... as in yesterday night it was working fine...today in the morning nothing.... so i had to restart it..... any suggestions ....😕

I would check to see if it is the network that is dropping or your computer. I am pretty sure it is probably a router or a server on your college network rather than the computer itself. If you are running Win9x, go to run and check out winipcfg. See if you can ping other systems on your gateway. If you can but you still cannot get out to the internet without rebooting and relogging in, then you can pretty much say it is a server problem on your university side. If you cannot ping at all without rebooting, then you might be looking at a flaky network card or you have power saving features on your LAN card or something.

i did not try pinigng other servers...but did try to ping my own computer... and it replied wihtout any packets lost
