HELP! Linux

IceT

Senior member
OK, I just installed Mandrake 7.2 Linux and I can't seem to boot into it! First of all, I have one HD and has two partitions: P1 is Win2K Pro and P2 is for Linux. I have Boot Magic installed (Windows version) as well. OK, during the Linux installation, it didn't even ask me to install LILO and when it asked me if I would like to put it in MBR or in the first sector of the boot section, I picked the first sector of the boot section instead. So, can I boot into Linux anymore or do I need to start fresh again?

I need help ASAP! Thanks in advance.

Hmm, your going to have to configure boot magic to boot Linux then. Don't ask me how though as I've never used that product.

I was gonna mention that but because he already has Boot Magic installed I thought it best that he just use that as the boot loader.

Either way will work. LILO=Boot Magic=boot loader. 🙂

OK, I have told Boot Magic to boot the Linux partition but after a reboot and selected to boot Linux, it just freezes there (Preparing to load Mandrake Linux 7.2...). I think I better off using the "loadli.exe" from the CD🙂

Thanks guys

My thought here is that the boot loader that was installed was GRUB and not LILO. I think Mandrake does that by default.

Did you make that parition bootable in Boot Magic? I used to use System Commander and as I recall, and trust me I could be wrong here, you had to do that.
