Hi there,
The laptop is a HP Omnibook 500. The problem I'm having is that sometimes the display on the LCD would turn completely white, and nothing would be visible anymore. This happens randomly, sometimes it happens several times a day, and other times it doesn't happen for weeks.
The funny thing is, besides the display, the laptop appears to be functioning underneath. I have VNC running on it, and I can still connect to it to control the desktop. It's just that the screen on the laptop itself would not display.
It has the latest BIOS available, and I don't think it's anything Windows is doing because the exact same thing has happened in DOS too. So it looks to be a hardware problem. Could it be the VGA controller? Is there anything I can do to fix it? Any ideas?
thanks!
