Can anyone help me, my files keep getting corrupted on my Abit kt7a computer.
If you can bare with me, bellow are all the method i have done to try and correct the PC and how i have narrow down the problem to my motherboard or cpu.
Last week i just made new computer to replace my slow aged one, i choose the 1ghz athlon with an abit kt7a board. I made a clean install of windows 98 SE ver 10.2222A. but I noticed that by average my computer would crash once an hour, sometimes it would just reset the whole thing by itself. SO i checked it out, first i thought it was a virus. i bought an antivirus program but it didnt detect any viruses. Next i reinstall windows seeing if that was the problem(maybe i instaled it wrong), but it still crashed quite often. SO then i proceded by reformating my hard drive, reintall windows again and run with a bare minimum, only hard drive and videocard(I have Leadtek geforce pro) (I thought it might've been the peripheral drivers). But to no avail the pc still crashes. By that time i ran the windows "System filechecker" program under the "system information". when I run the prog it imediately shows that i have corrupt files in my windows dir. SO at that time i thought that the problems can only come from 3 source since Im running but a bare min, it was either a faulty hard drive(I have the new deskstar 60gxp), my motherboard or my cpu(maybe).
Now that i narrow down the cause, I proceded to check my hard drive.
I took it out and put it in my old computer, I reinstall windows and check with the System filechecker, but all my files were intact, no corruptions. So its not my hard drive.
After finding out that it wasnt my hard drive i took the hard drive out and put it in my new pc( still running the bare min). Run the prog again and imediatly found corrupted files. SO its either my MB or cpu?
Sorry if i write too much.
thanks for trying to help.
