help!!!! KT7 and USB not working

I have just finished building a new computer and can't get the USB printer to work. I am dual booting 98 first edition and 2000. It will load the drivers but won't print on 98. On 2000 it won't even recognize the printer or load the drivers. The printer works fine on my old computer. Also the video is doing weird things, after about 10 to 20 min, the screen will do strange things like, black dots streaming down the screen or black lines going across the screen or if I have several windows open I can see each one trough the other one, like they are semi-transparent. One time the mouse pointer turned into a 1-inch square that looked like the desk top. About a min. after the video goes nuts it always locks up solid and I have to restart. The new computer is a 1G thunderbird not overclocked, KT7-Raid, 2-30G IBM's in a raid-0 config., 2-128M Mushkin 2-2-2's, Matrox G-400Max, SB Live Platinum, 3Com Modem, 300watt power supply. I have read other posts about KT7's and USB problems, but I have tried all the fixes that I have read with no luck. Anyone know of a new fix that I haven't heard off or a fix for the video problem? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!

I'm not saying that this will fix it but perhaps it would help. USB Fix check it out and let us know if it does fix it.

If your using 2000 you may want to check my post here

BTW I had a similar problem I just re-installed the app for it and it fixed it.

Also you said that you installed windows first edition, did you install SP1 for win98?

Thanks for all the replys. No I havn't installed SP1, err that is I don't think so, what is that and where can I get it? As for the other suggestions, I haven't tried them yet, but when I do I will post my results. THANKS!!

Yes I have tried the 4in1 and the usb filter from VIA with no luck. Dexion, is that the patch you were talking about? I went to Microsofts web site and found the fix from them but, it says that it is only for 98 second edition and 98 first does not need the fix, so I did not try it.

Go into the bios and make sure you have USB enabled, your problem sounds like it's on disable.

Have you installed the newest BIOS from Abit. I was having similar problems with my KA7 with my USB and Matrox G200. The newest BIOS for the KA7 specifically say that they fix problems with the Matrox G400. When I installed them, my problems with the G200 and USB went away. Since both the KA7 and KT7 are based off the same basic chipset, I would try that. I am not running Win2000 on my home machine, so I don't know if there would be any problems with that...Win98 is running like a charm now.
