Help -Keyboard Not Detected-

I have a slow (PII 233) old computer which after having disconnected the mouse and keyboard to use on another box for a few days. When I put the mouse and keyboard back on and fired it up it did not see the ps2 mouse. I shut it down plugged in the mouse and fired it back up and then it gave me a keyboard not detected error and now will not boot up. i am unsure if this a bios problem and it has halted the system or what, and since i do not get a response from the keyboard i cannot get into the cmos/bios to adjust the settings. I have checked all the keys on the k.b. too make sure none are stuck down and have tried a known good keyboard and still get the same results...now the specs
It is a P5T30-B4 intel board. running windows 98 (dont laugh i said it was my old puter)....Any help to get past this undetected keyboard error is appreciated. Thank you in advance

The only bios setting that might pertain to your situation is the "halt on all errors" setting. It can be set on an except keyboard setting. Are the mouse and kb plugged into the correct ports (I'm guessing it's a ps2 port for the kb)? Does the kb work again with the mouse unplugged? Have you at any point plugged/unplugged either while the box was powered up?

You may have broken the connection between the keyboard socket and the motherboard. See if the socket "wiggles"
when you are plugging in the keyboard. Also, check all the pins to make sure you didn't break one off and lodged it inside the socket.

If not, then try removing the motherboard battery and test or replace it.

BTW - Your motherboard is a Tekram.
