Here's the deal...my little sister is away at school and still uses me a her tech support...recently she has been having an issue with KazaaLite and her internet connectivity.

She can access her email, use IM and the internet...but whenever she tries to use Kazaa (or any of the other p2p apps) it causes her to loose all her internet connection. if she turns of kazaa, the connection will return a few minutes later...any ideas?

BTW- windows XP pro, not sure about what the connection is at her school, but she is the only individual having this problem so obviously it is completely localized to her computer.

Make sure she has v2 of kazaalite. Also make sure she follows the directions when she installs it. The HOSTS file located in .../drivers/etc is what allows kazaalite to redirect all spyware crap, if she screws with that file (not putting it where its supposed to be) she may lose some internet functionality.

Good luck

The wierd thing is that it happens with all p2p apps, not just kazaalite...i didn't know if it would be a port cinflict or something like that...

Little sister needs to download a program called AdAware (www.lavasoft.nu). It is relatively small at about 900K, and she should look for version 5.83 . . . I think that is the latest version. While there, also get the REF-Updater, as this works the same way as a virus data update file would in that it is giving difinition to the latest spyware.

Anyway, installing and updating that will allow her to see what in the line of SpyWare is running on her system. if Kazaa has installed Brilliant Digital, that is likely a cause of her problems.

Ad-Aware is already installed...that is not the issue...thanks for the help, this might be more of a networking issue...
