Hi everyone,

I recently purchased and installed an x800GTO AGP on my system. Everything seemed to be great, I installed the catalyst drivers with the new microsoft.net framework. I didn't like the way the catalyst control center was set up so i decided to switch to ATI Tray Tools. I found out that ATI Tray Tools didnt need the new microsoft.net framwork so I uninstalled it. After that everything worked great, my 3dmark05 went from a massive 254 on my old geforce 5200 to 4400 with the x800GTO.

The next day when I started up my computer my monitor displayed a black screen with these words in white "cannot display video mode" At this point I panicked, but then after about 30 seconds my desktop loaded up, and here i am posting. It seems that it no longer displays the windows xp startup loading screen nor the screen where it shows how much memory you have and the processor you have and stuff.

I need any help I can get. Do you guys think it's the microsoft.net framework I uninstalled? I am not over clocking but I am using a profile in ATI Tray Tools to set my fan speeds, could that be it? I also have the tv out hooked up to an HDTV but I dont think that's a factor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Did you also uninstall CCC? That's the part that requires the .Net ramework. If you only uninstalled the framework, then CCC might be trying to run at startup, and failing because it can't run. If you're using ATT, you only need the base driver. You dont need CCC, and you dont need the .Net framework.

If you don't see the POST screen or the Windows XP loading screen, then it has nothing to do with your software. Does your monitor have any calibration buttons on the front panel?

I have uninstalled CCC, and I used the buttons on my monitor to reset to factory settings, is there anything else I can do?

The post screen and XP load screen are not going to effected by anything in windows. You're looking at monitor/videocard problems and incompatibilities most likely. You mention having the TV out hitched to a HDTV...its possible that its throwing the image to that by default, then after windows loads its picking the correct monitor. Try unhitching that and see what happens, but I'm not to familiar with how the TV out works on these cards.

Thanks for the help Ping Spike. The windows XP load screen came back after I unhooked the S-video cable connecting my hdtv and my PC.

I dont have any major problem unhooking and hooking the HDTV as needed, but it is a hassle. Would anyone happen to know what I can do to make is so that I can have the HDTV hooked up to my x800GTO, but the XP load screen to come up on my PC monitor? or will I have to reconcile the fact that I have a future full of plugging and unplugging lol?
