Help: Is this OS problems or Hardware ?

My computer if dying on me without any reason.
it hang (no bsod) at any random software (Photoshop, ACDSee, Diablo II)
can't be recover by ctrl-alt-del, have to reboot.
reset button on my comp does not work anymore.
everytime I boot my computer, the first boot always hang (monitor does not get any signal, and HD light stay on).
Have to shutdown and start it again.
and now I check the date on my comp is screw up (says jan 02, 200).
Maybe the battery on the mobo go kaput but could it be the one that make all this problems ?

replace the battery, if you think that is the problem--would only cost like 2 dollars to try.
