I don't know man.. I installed it last night.. and I'm having some problems too.. I'm not giving up though.. I find that it runs slower, not just boot up, but like, opening apps and things.. it seems kind of ogreish.. (sp?)

Yeah i had it for about a month before but i got a HDD corupttion lost all data (gay) , but it was running sweet i actuly though apps etc.. were quite fast still and games ran just as good as 98 but this dvd performance is crap :( . i havent put sp1 on yet but i dont think that will fix this as its more security upgrades and things it didnt say anything about multimedia. I will put it on but dont have it yet.

comon guys any one else had poor dvd performance and managed to fix it ? ?

Is it in PIO mode? Look at the chanels in device manager. What are your system specs? If you are running a mobo with via chipsets then try upgrading to the 4in1.29's they have helped resolve some ATAPI issues. What vid card? What drivers?

You need to provide more info about your system.

it was in pio mode but i changed it to ultra dma no diff in performance it worked fine in 98 before 2k.

p3 500e@700 (i tryed it unclocked same story though ) , leadtek geforce2mx ,sound blaster live. on a ASUS CubX motherboard so its a bx chipset.
