I am running a 1G AXIA T-bird @1.2G, and the mobo is Epox 8KTA3; currently the idle temp is about 46C in Windows 2000; however, when I play the game "Black & White", the temperature of the CPU went up to 56C; is this within the "normal" range?

The weird part is that the CPU just has about 50-52C when I did some torture test usinc Prime95 or ran 3D Mark 2001.

Help me please, especially those Epox owners!!

:)

Sounds like its a little on the hot side but it is nothing to worry about. It will be okay at that temperture.

I agree with the previous posters that those temps are within spec and shouldn't be a cause for alarm.

To give you a frame of reference, I have the same chip and the same board.

My computer runs seti 24/7, and it MBM reports 42-44C depending on ambiant temp. This is at 145X8.5 (1232). I have lowered the fsb and gotten cooler temps. Heatsink is the Taisol 760 with the slower and quiter delta fan that moves 30cfm. Case has good airflow too.

Hope that helps.
