I got a NETGEAR WIRELESS G 2.4 Ghz Router 2 weeks ago @ CompUSA.

Problem: is that I keep on losing connection intermittently.

When I look @ the lights on the Netgear, all lights except for power would go off for 15 seconds and would slowly go back on as if it has rebooted and going through self-post test.

I tried: swapping out for a new netgear router and tried bypassing surge protector and 2 different power outlets. No luck!

Please advise.

How are you connecting to the router? Wirelessly or hard wired? I have the same router

Perhaps one of the nic's your connecting is causing the problem...have you tried it with one pc at a time? And how long are you going between losing your connection?

No new firmware available. I spoke w/ netgear's tech support and they emailed me a beta version of their newer firmware. I ran the update and hard reset equipment, no changes.

I only go online at night. It would go out every 10 to 30 minutes. I would run a continous ping and it would result in 10 to 12 TIME OUT before service come back on. Right before it go out, I get a message on the bottom right, local area network unplugged.

Any other ideas?

Just bought a switch.

I placed the switch between the cable modem and the router. NO LUCK :(
I placed the switch between the router and the computers. NO LUCK either :(
Same problem, Netgear router reset every 5 minutes. Causing my connection to drop and come back on.

It's a linksys 4 port switch. My brother uses it w/ flawless connection.

Why? Why? Why? It's driving me off the wall.
