This one really has me stumped. Ok, specs are PCCHIPS M830 board (I know !!) XP1600+ Radeon LE, 256 generic SDRAM, 300W generic PS... Maxtor 7200rpm 20 gig drive, DSL.
Booted fine at first, loaded OS, worked ok for first few reboots... Then started getting intermittent blue screen errors under Win2K -- " Cannot load device driver XXX.dll" (these are all from system 32 and the driver names varied). Reinstalled Win2K, same problem after all updates...
After that I installed XP on another partition. Loaded ok, ran a couple of times, but then started getting blue screen errors "page fault in non-paged area".
Throughout all this I updated the bios, set low performance settings, but noticed a couple of times, the bios reset itself to 100mhz vs 133. This led me to believe bios could be problem... Removed a memory stick, and on reboot, said CMOS battery low, reset config data ?? So I assumed the CMOS battery was toast (PCCHIPS what do you expect) and replaced it.... NO CHANGE...Note bios shadowing is set to DISABLED (is this correct ?)
Reseated all cards, cpu, heatsink, memory, switched HDD's, ran integrity scans on HDD's, swapped cables. Ran diskchecker when I was able to get into the OS's. Last known config AND safe mode gives same blue screen error...
Figure it's gotta be the board. Video card and CPU are from my old system so I know they're ok... I don't suppose I chipped the CPU on install or anything.... I am going to go home and update the bios now that I have a new battery in it. Perhaps during the bios update, when the battery was low, some settings were screwed up...
ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED... I have another board en route, but this is fu&^ing personal now !!!
Thanks everyone..
