help... intel nic on d865perl

I'm having some problems with my built-in NIC on my Intel D865PERL board. XP detects it as the "Intel Pro/100 VE Network Connection" but every review i have read of this motherboard tauts it as having a Gigabit NIC. The fact it detects it as only a 100mbit card is ok with me, but the network performance configured this way bothers me greatly. Currently, I'm getting between 15 and 30k/s uploads from my box to other computer on the lan and at max 300 down from them... downloads and uploads from the internet are also greatly hampered. This is not a network saturation problem - other boxes will do a full 10mbps to each other. Please help me, I am at the end of my wits...

I would suggest you uninstall the built in WinXP driver and dload the Driver set from the Intel site. You should also make sure you have the latest Intel Chipset.INF

There are 4 different flavors of that board - 1 with Gigabit, 2 with 10/100, and 1 with no onboard NIC.

interesting bozo... i tried to install the gigabit driver manually, and it would say the device didint function
do you have any suggestions for making the speed a lil bit better on my lan? if not i might have to go buy myself a new nic
