Did I get a bad batch of machined screw threads in nipple B's hole or the wrong size of nipple A's stem?

I spent over an hour tryng to get one screwed into the other before installing to make sure I knew how to put it together.

I know you but the A under the card with the rubber ring over the stem.

You are then supposed to put another ring over the small portion of the stem sticking through the top of the card. You then take nipple B and screw that (I assume from the diagram) down on nipple A.

You would finally take bolts A / B and screw them on the top and bottom, respectively.

There is NO WAY you can screw nipple A into the nipple B hole even BEFORE installing them into the card!

This is nipple A according to the instructions. It looks like it has threads on the top half of the stem.
The other end of it has a hole with threads where the back plate arm is screwed into with "bolt B".

Then there is nipple B. It is basically a barrel with a hole like the butt end of A, but with a smaller hole on the other end that seems to have threads inside it, although it is very small and hard to see inside.

I am able to slightly twist the stem of A into the small hole of B (large hole is for the top side hsf to actually get bolted into).

The stem sticks up through the card with a rubber washer below and above it / them.

According to the instructions, the nipple (why a nipple? It's a variable sized and sided thread nut really...) B is supposed to go on top of the card where the HSF comes down on top of that for bolt A to go through the fan arms to secure it to the card.

You just CAN NOT get that stem into the small hole of the A barrel.

Since the stem diameter is too small for the other hole I know I have it right.

(damnit it doesn't show up after posting the way I put it. Think of a baby rattle...only the size of a screw with a large head and long stem.)

Sounds like you might have some defective hardware? My VF700Cu installation went as smooth as can be.....hopefully Zalman will sort it for you.

Foiled by simple screw hole / stem diameter....screw up....? I assume I am trying to put it together properly.

my vf went on as easy as pie..........

from what i remember...you have nipples top n bottom. screwed into each other, with rubber gromets either side (for protection), then on the back you have the zalman brace plate, and on the top you screw the lever arm things of the cooler into the top nipples

if you cant actually screw the nipples to each other like you should then something is definately wrong.

oh wait....stupid i know, but you are screwing them the right way right? clockwise? (iei righty tighty)

Of course I know how to. Like I said there is no other way to do it. One side has holes that are too big that are for the larger screws to bolt the fan onto.
I can fit the 'bolt A' into that larger end but the stemp of nipple B will not go into the other smaller end of nipple / barrel A.

last night when I went to the support email there was a message that their server was having problems and to use some other thing so I went to the forums.
I have yet to receive a reply. There didn't seem to be much traffic in that section anyway.

To demonstrate that I am doing it properly:

I hold the barrel in my left fingers with the smaller hole to the stem. I take the stem and twist it away from me with my right hand into the hole.

The hole is just not big enough to put those threads in contact with each other.

Strange thing is that I can randomly mix and match the parts and none of them will fit each other.

I tried to leave a review on NewEgg citing this "screw" up using Zalman's own description of what they call them and NewEgg doesn't allow the use of "nipple" lol.

I just inserted a dash in the words and said I have them, you have them! Zalman calls it that!
