I currently have my hard drive(200GB) partitioned into 3. 1GB fat32 with win98 installed, 20GB ntfs with win2000 installed, and the rest of the drive is also ntfs. I would like to do a clean install of xp on the second partition where win2000 is.
No use having fat32 on a 1 GB partition. It will probably be formatted as fat16 (vfat) by setup, unless you made it bigger than 2 GB. Besides, why do you want Win98 if you're only got 1 GB for it (if you don't mind me asking)?
Blow away the Win98 and 2000. XP is all you need. repartition it into one drive and load XP normally. I can't stand it when people partition a drive into multiple drives. It's soooo aggrivating.
I have win98 to bail me out if win2000 fails... or to run the odd dos or old windows app that doesn't like win2k. I'm not repartitioning the drive. I like it the way it is with all my programs in one place and my data in another. My data partition doesn't fragment nearly as quickly as my system partition and it makes burning a backup image of my system partition quick and easy.
I simply want to do a clean install over my win2k partition with winxp... nothing else.
I'll just format the win2k partition and hope booting from cd works.
