Help Installing Printer on a MSI K7T PRO2???

Someone Please help. I cannot get my epson stylus 1270 inkjet printer to work with my MSI Board. I just built this new system and cannot get the printer to work. I had this printer running flawless on my pentium system(asus cubx, pIII650). I dont know what happened. WinME recognizes the usb printer and then I load all my drivers. Everything goes smoothly until it attempts to auto configure the printer to the right port during installation (it freezes). well I close the install and reboot into windows and everything seems right. Printer on LPT7. I check for IRQ conflicts but there are none. Everytime I try to print, windows says it cannot communicate with the printer and to check that the cables are properly hooked up and the power is on.I know it cant be the usb cable because I bought a new one. Plus when I unplug the printer and plug it back in windows recognizes it. I dont know what to do. any info would be appreciated

If its a USB printer, what are you looking at the parallel port for? You should be looking to see if there are conflicts with the USB port.
