Help installing off market cd deck into 2k4 Grand Am

Well i went out bought a wiring. My Electronics teacher said that with the head unit im installing it shoudl be fine using the wiring kit w/o having to splice into all the old junk. So I bought it. I got everything connected but the AMP ON wire. I'm not sure where I'd actually tie that into Could someone please help me out. I'm really in need of help and will greatly apprericate it.

No I do not? But do I have to hook it up for the preamp in the car? or is that already hooked up through all the other wires? I'm guessing I'm suppose to just leave that alone.


I would ask him, but i'm doing the install tomorrow, and i have the day off and watned to knwo. I forgot to ask him about that...

the "amp on" wire is to send a signal to your amp to turn on. does your car have a factory amp that comes with the car?
