I plan on installing a CNPS9500 on my E6400 (which all I'm waiting for is the darn moterhboard to be instock at The Egg)

Now this is my first build of my own but I've had alot of expeierence putting together PC's so I'm sure I'll have no problem.

I am concerned about installing the new HSF, I plan on OC'ing straight away and fear the Stock fan will be insufficient.

Now my first question is: Should I buy Arctic silver 5? Should I use Zalmans included paste?

Second questions: How hard is it to install? I'm worried I'll somehow screw up and ruin everything.

Thrid: Removing the original heatsink and grease? Is the heatsink (Stock) already attached when you buy the CPU? Or do you install it while putting the PC together?

If anyone can point me to some guides, tutorials, or just explain it in a post I'd be very appreciateive.

1. Zalman's Stuff is probably just as good as AS5, but I have used AS5 in the past & had a fresh tube on hand so I'll use that.

2. From what I understand the 9500 is one of the easier HSF units to install(which was another reason I just ordered it) I'll tell you for sure when I get my parts from NE tomorrow.

3. No the Stock HSF is not installed as you get it. Just put it aside & dont worry.
As far as a guide, there was a great guide here for new builders, unfortunately I have lost the link. Anyone else want to help with that link?
Edit:
Found it here
Note that the pictures are for an AMD unit, but it should give you an idea.

Other advice would be to Get things mounted, Check your temps with something like Everest, or CoreTemp. Make sure that things are where you are happy with them, before trying any OC'ing.
