I own a Toshiba Tecra 740 that came with a pretty palty 1.3gb hard drive. I'd love to upgrade this machine to a larger (6gb+) drive. Although I am fairly well versed in installing hardware in a desktop computer, I have very little experience with a laptop.
I did my best to disassemble my laptop to see if I could install the hard drive myself, but while I could remove every other part (memory, CD-ROM, etc.), I couldn't figure out how to remove the hard drive. It appeared to be held in with a screw located on the far end of the CD-ROM "port", facing the left side of the unit so you'd have to go in about 6-7 inches and attack it from a right-angle.
Basically, I'm hoping I'm wrong and that there's an easier way to remove the hard drive from this unit. I'm also hoping the new unit is essentially plug-and-play. The one I was looking at was a Fujitsu 6gb drive (model #MHK2060AT).
Any help is appreciated, thanks a bunch!!
