Help installing new CD-RW

Ok... perhaps I'm ignorant, but here is the situation. From the primary IDE connection off my motherboard, I have a master hard drive and a slave hard drive. Off the secondary connection I have a DVD drive (master) and a CD-RW (slave). I have another CD-RW drive that I would like to add into an open bay but how can I connect it without losing any of the other connections that I already have?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, you have the right idea going here. You will have to purchase a pci controller card that has more ide hookups. It's pretty straight foward and you should be able to handle it just fine.

To go a little deeper. You may want to drop your hard drives on the raid controller. Pio mode devices don't work too well on UDMA PCI Controller cards - they do work, but I'd say not as well as UDMA devices do - at least not for me. So if you're going to put Hard drives on there - you're going to want to get one thats rated at your fastest hard drive's ATA speed, wether 33, 66, 100 or 133.

If you'll take the risk of putting your cd/cdrw on there, then go ahead and get the ATA/UDMA 33 version, since so far no CD/CDRW has passed that stage.

Good Luck!
