help installing memory to a DELL

hi..my gf has a DELL (Dimension XPS PIII) which has 128mb memory and has win2k.
She wanted more so we went to fry's and got a 256mb pc133 module made by corsair. I installed the memory and on the first boot up, it posts 384mb of ram...But once it gets to the windows2000 we get a quick error that says paging error. So the pc restarts itselt at this point and now, it says memory error. It gives the option of esc to ignore or delete for setup. I hit delete and it goes into bios and there i see bank one has 128mb of ram, bank2 has256...I exit there, and this time windows goes into win2k again but it gives paging error. The computer restarts itself and this time it posts 128mb of ram and again, paging error. I remove the memory, and this time i get into win2k no problems...why am i getting this paging error???
txs in advance
