Help installing COD 2

So. I was an XMas gamer, and picked up Call of Duty 2. After multiple attempts to install, it always ends up in the same spot.

Symptoms:

Installs fine on disc 1 through 5. Disc 6 will hang halfway through, HDD drive light stays pegged. App won't close, hard freeze on entire box. Their demo ran fine, which is why I bought the game. Fun demo, BTW.

System:

AMD FX-55
Dual GT6800 Ultra's in SLI (in single monitor mode)
Samsung 930BF
2G Corsair RAM
LOTS 'o HDD space
WinXP SP2 with all current patches


I've read many a tech support forum, so here is what I've tried:

Disable 2nd monitor
Disable Network during install to negate autoregister function
Run install with screen resolution at 800*600

All fail. The disc looks fine. Activision says to return the game, but I HATE trying to return opened software. The vendor is Newegg, who I like.

Any thoughts?

This might be going out a stretch as to say maybe it's a SP2 problem?...I personally dont use it and find SP1 better...have you asked tech questions about sp2-cod2 related problems?Maybe try defragging your HD to organize it more...sorry if I cant be more helpful I personally played cod2 for 2 months now with no problem
