Help Installing CM 212 Plus i7 860

I am trying to install the CM 212 Plus on my i7 and I am not able to install the mounting bracket. There just seems to be far too much gap between the mounting bracket and the board.

This is my first time with an aftermarket HSF and I am not sure what i am doing wrong?

It looks like you got the retention plate orientation wrong. This is from the manual:
