Help Installing a Blue Orb

Chuck

Senior member
I'm trying to install a Blue Orb on my CL Geforce 1 DDR, but I can't get the old heatsink/fan off. Is there a 'trick' to it? It just seems to be stuck onto the chip with some strong epoxy stuff or something. Could I try cutting it off with a knife? or would that damage the chip?

I'm stuck. Please help.

Thanks.

procedd with caution,...

there are a few "methods"
1) put it in a zip lock bag and into the freezer for a while, then try ptrying with a screwdriver...
2) run the card intensively for 30-60min and pry it off when it's warm/hot...

i do the latter, when prying, make sure to keep clear of capacitors and electronic stuff that may be knocked loose or off... just slide the screwdriver head or whatever your using (i use a letter opener) beneath the sink and twist slowly... 😛 be careful and good luck...

Wow. The second one worked a treat... came off first time. I don't have any skin on my fingers any more, but it's off... 😉

Thanks for the tip.
