just a few questions about installing a sata drive.
first off, does creating a raid array (0 or 1) delete all the data you have on the hard disk?
also, bios can recognize the new hard drive, but its exactly the same model and everything, so they looks identical in the bios and i dont which one is the original and which one is the new one.
do i have to set one as the master and one as the slave even though its a sata drive?
if so i cant figure out how to set one as the master and one as the slave.
this is all assuming that im not setting up a raid array, i was just asking about that out of curiosity.

I have no experience with RAID! But, I have heard that for home general use, there is no benefit from it. I also know that RAID 0 increases the chances of losing your data by hard drive failure since you will lose the entire data when one of the two drives fails. So, the probability of failure is double.

RAID1 is good for mirroring. But, it does not replace backup since if you delete a file by mistake, you will be deleting it from both!

If you decide to not use RAID, you need to set the BIOS to boot from one of the two. You do that in the boot priority list in the BIOS.
SATA does not have master and slave. But, you have to tell the BIOS which one to boot from.

To make things simple, why don't you remove the other SATA and only leave the one you want to install the OS on. Then, install and see what happens.
