this is part of an ongoing saga i've been having with my gateway. at this point i have an 18 inch lcd sitting on the sidelines i think due to a bad cable but that's another story that i'll fix up.
for now my pc is hooked to a viewsonic 17 inch crt (model a70) with a radeon 9600 pro via analog connection. the problem is the video displayed is much too large for the screen--in other words on booting the top, bottom and sides of what is supposed to be displayed is offscreen and you have to move the mouse around to find everything.
there must be something in setup somewhere to get the card to recognize what screen it's dealing with but i can't find it.
