Okay I'm going to get replace my current AMD setup with an Intel I5 3570K IB. It will be used for gaming. I do not know much about the different intel motherboards. I will not do SLI and I might OC just a little. I see H61, H67, H77, B75, P67, Q77, Z76, Z77 North Bridge chips, which one would be a good fit?

Go for a z77 chipset MB if you think you may ever overclock your chip . No need to spend big bucks on one as you just gotta get one that fits your needs.

If you didn't buy the 3570k yet you could save some bucks with a 2500k. Runs a lot cooler and the performance is not worth the diff in price unless you get a hot deal on the 3570k

Microcenter 2500k $140 plus shipping

Thanks I'll get a z77 chipset. There is a microcenter in town so I could pick up the CPU there. They have some combo deals on the 3570 and motherboards also.

Microcenter being an option for you will save you some bucks! The one at Beltway/Rockville looks to have a better selection of motherboards currently looking online.

Most of the time if you do the online reservation for the combo you'll get discount coupons for additonal items such as memory, cases, power supplies, gpu's, ssd's, etc. varies I think so it's a wait and see what your offer is. Should come in the confirmation email stating it's ready to pick up. I think most of the time it's like 10-20% off which makes prices competetive at least....Keeps items resurved for 3 days paying on pickup.

Good luck with your build.

While it does support SLI the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 is one of the better boards out there for the price. Also make sure you pick up a 3rd party HSF (heatsink/fan) before you try to overclock the Intel® Core™ i5-3570K.

Thanks for the tip, I got a 10% coupon for memory so I also got 8GB of Kingston HyperX PC1600 for $32. I got the 3570K and an Asus P8X77-V LK Z77 mobo. After taxes it came to $302 for the combo.

I was looking at that Asrock mobo also along with a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H. I decided to go with the Asus as I have never had a problem with them. I picked up a coolermaster 212 for the HSF. I was going to use my Corsair H80 but I will keep that with my old Phenom II rig.

Thanks for the advice and help guys, I appreciate it.

From what you told me last time Intel GURU .. I can use the Ivy Bridge E hexa when it comes out on my x79 board ..... thats one of reasons why I did my rig the way I did it. If I got 3930 then a upgrade to ivy 6 hexacore I would be stuck with that. Im setting myself up for the Ivy E ,

Is it a 3Q release 2013 ..... 6 months away about when haswell will be out in cheap form, for mobiles and 4 thread kittys....... hehe
