help in make wirless network

hi my friends
i want to know how far is the access point and wirelees router can be connect pc
i read there are access point and router can be in door 150 and out door 500 m
is this is true or
the distance is correct or not
and if it is not correct how the true distance it can be work

The distance is correct given very specific situation that No normal user has.

This page (toward the end) states the "Real" expecting distance.
