Hi, I want to buy a digital camera for $200 and under It will be my first one, I will be using it for Family pictures most of the time. printing pictures is not a big concern, most Important to me is Image Quality, and speed, and battery life, 1.3 Mp is fine if it takes nice pictures. LMK if you have any ideas, Thanks

If you raise your price ceiling to around $230 you can pick up the Cannon A10 which is easily the best in its class for image quality and ease of use. When you get more experience with digital photography you can upgrade it with different lens and accessories.

Im with mschell on the cannon, for the lower end digi's that seems to be the one.
I have a kodak DC4800 with the lens kit & couldnt be happier
, but the lowest I have seen it for is around $460. Not bad for 3.1🙂
I may be selling it soon tho, cuzz I'm dr00ling over the new sony 5 megz & a carl lens!!! bah the sony memory stick tho...
There goes my 64mb, 48mb(8x) & (2) 16mb CF cards🙁

Thanks for Ideas and links, Big help to me, I have been comparing the cannon A10 and Fuji finepix and they seem pretty close, the pictures from both camera,s look very nice, not so great indoors though but acceptable. I found a Fuji finepix 1300 slightly used for $130 and was looking at specs and pics from that one and It looks good for a first digital camera. not sure if its worth going with a newer model like the 2300 or not.

you can search for cameras on pricewatch.com

and buydig.com or somethign has some great deals

pm me and i can link you a pic ive taken with a 40i

an extra $50 more will land you into the finepix 2600 territory, which is one sweet camera 🙂 but to stay under, i'd say the finepix 2300 is a pretty safe choice. If you're willing to chip in an extra $100, the canon digital elph s110 seems to have the best price/value ratio of any digital camera out there,

hope this helps~

thanks for replies everyone, I was Here>> Pics comparing pictures side by side, and the cannon A10 does look better to me, I think I might go with the A10 the link Strawberrymom gave me has them for under $200 great prices there thanks.

actually that site is worthless cause they dont use the same size picture some are larger and others smaller.

if they set a certain size then i would say yeah but they dont so i wouldnt rely on what they show

Yea your right, I just compared the G2 image to the A10 and the A10 looked better so its no good to judge with.
