Alrighty then... Building a s939 setup based on the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum NF3 ULTRA. Seems every site I go to has slightly diffrent spec's for the CPU's, with alot of core discrepencies. I definatly want a winchester core.
Adding to my confusion I read something that said the 3000 or 3200 did not have the dual memory channel options. Also the FSB displayed on most of the sites is always diffrent, and quite confusing. This leads me to believe the 3500 is the best choice for my setup. Do the 3200 and 3400 flavors of the winchester core have all the same options? What would be the performance diffrance between the 3400 and the 3500? Which cpu would OC the best? Thanks,

Mr. n00b

You are probably seeing all the differetnt versions of the 3200+... There are both s754 and s939 cores available, so you want to make sure you are looking at the right one. The 3200+ is a great OCer (so I've heard) and can easily surpass a stock 3500+.

There's no socket 939 3400+. Your options are: 3000+, 3200+, 3500+, 3800+, 4000+, FX-53 and FX-55. You can get Winchester in the 3000+, 3200+, and the 3500+. I use a 3500+ Winchester right now but I haven't tried OCing it yet.

Thanks Mrvile. That narrows my choice down to 3200+ vs 3500+. Seems to me the 3200+ is a bit better cost/performance wise. However I will have to take into effect how good each one oc's before I make my choice.

Done some quick searching and it looks like both the 3200+ and the 3500+ do some great oc's. Cost/performace be damned im going with the 3500+! :D
