I've followed the tried and true method of running the uninstaller, deleting registry keys and related files manually but it still complains that "drivers have been lost or uninstalled complete.y". I don't know what else to try or what what drivers it could possibly be seeing. I'm wide open to suggestions...thanks in advance for any help.

Do a google search for "Driver Cleaner" , Best driver deleting program imho. Just select all the Ati files and press delete. Positive it'l work. :D

Many video card drivers can only be deleted from Safe mode. Try booting in safe mode first.

I think I have managed to clean the system completely of all things ATI but my computer does not recognize the video card. It never finds new hardware and the card doesn't show up under display properties.

I did use safemode as recommended in the Driver Cleaner readme.

Now I recall why I moved on to other hobbies :)

Not sure what was missing but I ended up installing the latest VIA 4in1s and that seemed to fix everything up. My computer saw the 8500 and driver install went without a hitch. I thought XP took care of those drivers on install. I don't recall any prompt to install them manually. Oh well...problem solved.
