I just replaced my retail hsf with the golden orb and my temps are higher. With the retail hsf I'm getting 41c but with the golden orb I'm getting 46c or higher.

I don't have the one with the twist on clip but shouldn't it still give me lower temps than my retail hsf:confused:

I'm using AS2, not the stuff that came with the orb.

Setup:
P3-700@933 default voltage (retail hsf running RC5 gave me 41c temp)
Asus CUSL2

Doesn't that suggest that something sucks about your Golden Orb? ;) Look at reviews of the Golden orb and you will find that it isn't very good. ;)

Yeah, but wouldn't it at least be better than the retail HSF?

Besides I only want to use this until I get an alpha.

Actually....

one of the reasons for good g-orb performance was a splendid clip on the twist-version...

With the non-twist version, the performance is at or below retail heatsink level.

I reapplied the AS2 and now I'm getting 38c with RC5 running. I guess 2-3c is better than nothing. Dammit, I just wasted money I could have spent on an Alpha:|

Does anyone in Michigan around metro Detroit know where I can find an Alpha?
