I'm replacing my current computer and I hope to order something new tomorrow. I'm borderline clueless, so I would appreciate any advice or recommendations.
I've been looking at a couple of websites that offer configurable systems. I plan to keep my current monitor, cable modem, speakers, mouse, and keyboard. Mostly, I use my PC to get online, download and listen to music, mess around with my digital camera and possibly a digital camcorder at some point, and play games like Sims, etc.
Here's a system I "configured" that cost around $900;
ATX Medium Case 350 Watt
Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.0 GHZ 512K
MSI 845PE MAX i845PE Chipset 533FSB AGP4X MB
512 MB PC2700 333MHz DDR Memory
Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM ATA 8MB SE
nVidia TNT-2 M64 32MB AGP
CDRW 48x16x48x
AC97 Sound Card On Board
Windows XP Home Edition
MS Office XP SBE
Am I overkill in some area? Do I need to upgrade in some area? Would I be better off just ordering parts separately from some place like newegg.com and have someone locally put it together?
Help please!
