This stupid advertisement for X10's Amazing XCam keeps popping up on my computer screen when I am on the internet. It does so at random times regardless of where I happen to be on the internet. They must have stored a little program (virus) on my computer causing this to happen. How do I get rid of this??

While they're annoying and/or suck, at least they're up front about it and I like the comment about the internet not being able to give us our favourite content for free.. because as bad as it is, it's very true.

Try here.. I don't mind banner ads. I don't even really mind spam all that much, and I know these places have to make $$ to survive, but these X10 things are just incredibly obnoxious. I'm pretty sure that these are mostly used by dying sites as a last resort.

Hi! I was spamed with porn after visiting a chat site. Hit your "History" button on the browser to clear all URLs. Then look in your Favorites file towards the bottom where loose files are. I had about 6 different porn sites there. They are not labled X-Cam, but something innocent, "http://www.jones" etc. Also look in "My Computer" in the program list for any programs you don't recognize. I had some kind of a Richplayer thing in there.

The first thing I did was enter my phone dialer properties "Advanced" and shut off cookies, java, and raised security to high all across the different types. I repeated this in my browser. Then cleared the URLs from Address with History, then searched My Favorites. Also dump your cookies & any files in browser & run disk cleanup and remove temporary files. Lot of work, but my machine is working OK again.
