There's a problem with my '06 Ranger. It starts with no key in just by using the plastic housing around the ignition. Does anyone have an idea why it would do that?

Also, it dings when I have the door open to warn me that the key is in. I figure it must be stuck or something, but how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Can you estimate how difficult it would be to install? I'm a change the oil, filters, plugs and wires kind of guy, with the occasional alternator or belt.

Do you think I could do it?

I'm not familiar with your model. Some vehicles are very easy and some I'd just open my wallet at the dealership and say "please don't hurt me too bad."

I don't know for sure, but I am guessing all you'll need is a screwdriver and mayyybe a small socket. It shouldn't be too bad to change.
