ok guys, I am a student in CMSC 104, a class for beginners, i mean REAL begginers.

I have to write a paper. No i am not asking you guys to help me write it, just read on. Its gotta be 10 pages long, 14 point font:), and doubled spaced.

I HAVE to submitt 3 topics that i want to write aboutby thursday. The topic is open as long as it relates to computer science.

The professor said no enron, napster, or morpheus. and HE picks which topic out of the three he wants your to write about.

So what u guys can help me is with picking 3 topics. I need something where i can get references.

SO just gimme some topics to start with! Thanks!

btw.. the paper is not due till april but i need the topics NOW...

No problem, in fact I have probably 20 browsers open right now of computer articles. I'm taking a class, MIS528 which is emerging trends in MIS. Required for my master's in accounting, go figure. Anyway, we have to write 30 papers (about a page each) about a current MIS trend, and have at least 3 references dated this year relating to it.

So I have to have 30 topics :(

The 5 topics I have open right now are:

Cert Vulnerability notice of SNMP
Cybercrime punishment under Bill HR3482
Congress Passes 880mil computer security package
EU approves Internet Tax
BestBuy Geforce4 Thing (In relation to internet business and pricing policies, not singling out bestbuy)

Here's a list of sources I used for past articles (I'm limited to using a reference 3 times max, so I have to keep track of which one's ive used and how many time's ive used them)
MSNBC
Infoworld
Zdnet
Wired
BYTE
Computerworld
pcmag
Yahoo
eWeek
cnet

here's a list of what i have open right now, just look at the webpage (the www.blahblah.com part, not the actual article). these are all news sources

<< I would think it would be hard to find 5 references about that topic >>

Actually, it should be easy. I have seen them all over the place.

You could also use:
The emerging role of technology in education (high schools, etc.)
The differences between the dot.coms that made it and the ones that didn't.
Why technical forums are awesome places to get paper topics.
The role technology is playing in the fight against terrorism, both inside and outside of the US.

Just some thoughts. :)

Holy references, batman, bruno is trying to kill this kid!!!!!! ;)

Uh, that report would be a little lopsided, like about one in the former and a hundred thousand in the latter.

PS: And, the jury is still out on the one.

I think the EU approval of an Internet tax would be a great topic. There are so many economic consequences. You should be able to find how it will affect the US and even the world (should be an article up there talking about how it will affect the US). Dunno if that's really related to what you can do, but should be tons of info on it as well as editorials.

Last ones I turned in were on Broadband security. One of the problems is you get all these idiots who no nothing about computers on broadband. Then you have a huge security problem cause these "normal" folks never update their o/s, and now have a connection with a static ip and is always on. Combine that with boneheads who run every exe they get in their email and you have a huge number of folks at risk from hax0rz, etc.

The other was Netscape vs. Microsoft. Pretty humdrum but just an idea. The other was p2p programs but you said you cant do that.
