I was recently given an old computer from my uncle. He just didnt need it anymore. So I ended up with it.

It is a Gateway, and the manu date is 2004. Has Win XP Home and the CPU is a Pentium 4 2.60GHZ.

I am pretty sure it is socket 478 but what cpu "or core" would this cpu be ? I got it mainly to mess around with for the likes of Grim Fandango and Indiana Jones And The Infernal Machine. Legacy stuff.

Anyone know what core this is ?

Pentium 4 2.60 GHz

The motherboard does have DDR400 memory in it as well.

Another question, is it good at overclocking ? Im having trouble finding reviews back that far.

I'm going to guess that more than likely it's a Northwood core. Overclocking is possible but be wary of taking the voltage too high.

My guess is Northwood. You can download and run CPU-Z on Windows XP and check the core name.

It's a pent 4, socket 478 Northwood, and yes it will overclock to 3.0 or more. If it has a Gateway motherboard forget about overclocking.

I used to have a pent 4 Northwood with a Abit ic7 motherboard and I had it at 3.3 ghz I believe. I forget the voltage.
