I have a HP CD-Writer Plus 7550i drive. I was having trouble burning past the 79 min or so mark on 80 min CDRs. At CDRInfo.com, I found a firmware upgrade for 7570i drives that fixed that problem and made the drive look like a HP 8100i. I figured my drive was close enough to a 7570 drive, so I flashed it. Now, I keep getting buffer underruns and I think it is because the 8100i has 1MB of buffer, instead of the 2MB that my 7550i had. So by flashing it, I think it thinks it has only 1MB buffer. Does anyone know if there is another firmware I can download to flash it back to the 7550i or to another drive that has a 2MB buffer and has the same guts as my 7550i?

Please help save my poor HP :(

(I posted this over in the Perpherials forum but I'll try posting it here too.)

Here is the HP support page for that drive. No firmware updates, unfortunately, although there is a FAQ with typical suggestions on buffer underruns. Maybe you should just email HP, tell them you think you incorrectly flashed the firmware, and ask how you can restore the original. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just emailed them. Maybe they'll email me the firmware for the 7550i drive.
