Oh yeah get the backup battery out. The memory in those things is volatile except for the chip that holds the firmware, so if you power it all the way off it will reset to factory settings. It physically couldn't remember that equation. That sucks if you had other programs and stuff on there though.

well did it....its stopped number crunching, and thankfully all the apps i had on there are still there....though i dont think the EE20o or what ever it is is still working properly but thats for electrical engineers anyway, ill put it back on if i need it. other than that its all still there and working

lol next time this happens I believe there's a reset "panic" button hidden under the lower right plastic foot that you can press with a small sharp object.

Hit the ON button FIRST. That should break the current operation. If it doesn't, pull the batteries for a few mins. If that doesnt work, pull the lithium battery and let it sit for awhile (also try hitting the on button at this time).

Eleven years in the progress, I have stumbled upon a solution after looking at this blog, so I created an account just to answer this for future people.

"The TI-89 family, TI-92 family or Voyage 200 graphing calculators may display "busy" for a certain time while processing complex computations or solving equations. However, if the calculator displays busy for more than 10 minutes please see the below instructions:

NOTE: The following procedures will completely reset the calculator. Please, bear in mind that this will erase the contents of the calculator's memory and restore all manufacturer's defaults.

• Press and hold down the [2ND] key and the left and right arrow keys all at the same time.

• Press [ON].

• Release all the keys at the same time.

• Adjust the contrast, if necessary.

This should reinitialize the operating system, after which the calculator should then be functional again.

If the calculator is still not responding refer to this Troubleshooting case for additional information."
