HELP: I THINK I'M BEING HACKED!

I just installed Zone Alarm because my connection has been at a stand still for a while now. It feels as if I'm being packeted. And what do you know? After installing Zone Alarm there have been more than 90 blocked intrusions!

What can I do?

Is it normal for my cable modem light to ALWAYS be blinking? Even when the computer is off? Please help!

make sure you've updated all of Windows' critical updates/patches and update your Antivirus defs.

btw, my cable modem lights always blink...even when my PC is off.

Buying that $25 netgear router box from Amazon would help, the box would process and discard the worm connection attempts before they reach your PC.

Sounds like you're already doing what you can do. Look at the traffic that ZA is blocking and see what port(s) it is going after, and make sure you have unneeded services turned off. A NAT box would be a good idea.. Look at outbound traffic as well to verify that you don't have a backdoor installed, and do a virus scan and AdAware scan while you're at it.

I had to reset my cable modem and that helped a bunch. Thanks Zone Alarm.

Yup. "Intrusion attempts" just mean that someone was probably scanning your computer, which is nothing to be concerned about. When people go about hacking, they scan millions of IPs. Yours is just one. No worries, uninstall Zone Alarm, it's annoying and it's crap.

"Casing" an open port is not the same as casing somebody's house ...you don't know what you got until you get in. BTW, where do you live and what's your IP?
