help I suck at super mario galaxy

so i'm playing my first super mario games since world...and i suck...how the hell am i supposed to beast this killer cactus that's the first boss?

Wait, the first boss is the Dino Piranha. What cactus are you talking about?

Is it just some tall, yellow cactus? Hit the ball at him using Mario's spin move, activated by shaking the Wiimote. If it isn't that, I don't know any other cacti. *shrug*

I'm sitting at 65 stars and have beat the final bowser. Any reason to keep going other than knowing that I got lots of stars?

You can play as Luigi if you get all 120 stars. Other than that, I don't think there is anything more. I'm hovering at 110 stars currently.

Be prepared for this BS though....The Super Mario Galaxy programers are sadists!!!

Hit the ball on his tail. Let him chase you until he gets worn out (you can shoot him with star bits to slow him down), and we he rests up, you can go behind him and hit the ball on his tail.

This was the level that made me quit playing the game! I think I'm at around 112 stars.

I just started playing Galaxy a couple days ago. Have never played Mario N64, it's different. I started playing Ocarina of Time too, interesting. These 3D games are giving me a headache...

I finished the game with Luigi too ... and the level in that video was even harder using him :| Don't really know why I got obsessed, but it was a bit of a low point in the last year, and it diverted me from other things that weren't going well. Regardless, great game. Have barely touched my Wii since, although I have been kicking my wife's ass at DDR recently :thumbsup:

yea it is the dino w/e ...i know i have to hit the ball but i can't seem to run away from him fast enough, am i supposed to use some kind of long jump to get away? cuz he seems faster than me..

Don't run straight away from it. Run at 90 degrees to get around behind it, then smack it on the tail.

Just so everyone knows, on Luigi's Purple Coins, it is much easier to deal with if you have a partner. The second player can freeze the tiles, and they won't disappear when you walk on them.
