OK, I'm in a little bit of a panic...my memory got here today, and I was building my system, and things went downhill fast...
Here's what I had:
Epox 8KHA+
256megs of Nanya CAS2 DDR
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
Crapppy generic case with 250watt PS
Crappy generic CPU heatsink + fan
I was just trying to get the board and chip to post, and everything seemed to kind of stutter and the MB code was reading "FF". I'm hoping I might have just fried my PS, (hated that case anyway), and everything else will be OK, but I would really like some reassurance/advice if anyone has had this happen. And, yeah, i smelled that awful smell of electrical smoke. Please say this was due to using an inferior PS!
A side note...I have built a couple of sysems before, and they have all gone smoothly. I was meticulous about handling the parts carefully and making sure all of my parts/jumpers were seated correctly.
If anyone has and suggestions/advice, please reply!!
