I am helping out a with the local Boy Scout troop and they are having thier yearly garage sale, which is a major fundraiser for them. We have been given a Okyo A/V Reciever/Amplifier, model TX-SV515PRO. I believe that the Amplifier protection circuitry has been activated and I need to turn it off. I believe that it has been activated because every time I turn it on it says PROTECT across the screen after a few seconds and will not output any sound. I do not have the remote that came with this, but I did find a copy of the manual online, which is hear: http://www.onkyo.co.jp/www_e/manual/english/txsv515pro.pdf. It also seems that the US website for this is down, so I am not able to contact them about it. Please, someone tell me how this can be fixed. If it can be fixed we should be able to sell it for at least a $100, most people just consider what they buy to be a donation to the troop anyway.

If someone can direct me to a better forum/website to place this post on, please do.

Thanks,
TonyG

No, I would like to be able to fix it for the Boy Scout troop that I have been recruited into helping with for thier garage sale. They will get all the money from it when it is sold.

Sorry bud, I can't help ya. But! I'd suggest you go an ask at a few different forums, you might try the forums at www.pesupport.com or madisound.com or audioreview.com. There's probably a few others that would be good too, but are slipping my mind right now. Don't let jerks like lucid bother you.

Some might argue that helping the Boy Scouts isn't a good cause, since they're anti-homosexual, but I'd rather not get into that. Check AudioReview.com's message boards. They may be able to steer you in the right direction. Good luck. :)

Could be as simple as a blown fuse. Check to see if there's one on the back which would be screwed in. If you don't mind taking the cover off, you could look for a glass cylinder with metal end caps clipped onto the circuit board. If the wire inside is broken or the glass is smoked instead of clear than it needs to be replaced.

You can probably find it at Radio Shack. Anything more complicated is probably not worth the cost of fixing.

Thanks for reminding me about the fuses, don't know why I didn't think about that last night. Just have to try to find my meter now.
